Hollycott Farm

Hollycott is a 500 acre grazing property in the picturesque and highly fertile south west slopes of New South Wales. The farm is conveniently located just 13 kms from the Hume Highway, between Cootamundra, Harden, and the popular village of Jugiong, approximately halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, and an easy 90 mins from Canberra.

Situated along a creek that flows to the Murrumbidgee River, the hilly landscape, trees and rich pastures provide a perfect setting for grazing cattle. Hollycott is home to a herd of around 80 breeding cows and their calves (and a number of bulls), as part of a regenerative, natural, grass-fed beef programme, featuring the Speckle Park breed. These attractive black and white cattle are “more than just a pretty face”, with many positive breeding traits and also boasting a reputation for quiet temperament so some of them enjoy being hand fed by visitors, who particularly enjoy seeing the new arrivals at calving time.

In addition to cattle breeding and growing, the farm has horses, a goat, chickens, piglets (sometimes), and a number of soft and cuddly pets including cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Jules has been managing the farm for the past 8 years, with input from her 3 adult sons and 3 young daughters. The family enjoy hosting visitors, sharing with them the things they know and love about country living, and connecting people with nature and farm life. Jules has a holistic view of work and family life on the farm, with not just sustainability, but regeneration of the environment a high priority, working towards natural biodiversity and food production working together in improving the land. As a result, there is also an abundance of native wildlife to enjoy at Hollycott, with regular sightings of kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, monitors, and countless birds.

Hollycott Pastoral produces at 60-80 calves each year from Angus and Speckle Park breeders. Our favourite bull VPS Mojo Majic M001 produces calves of exceptional quality, with calm temperament like himself. Heifers are either retained for our breeding program or sold to other breeders, and steers are grown for high welfare raised, free range and grass fed Australian beef (which can be ordered direct from us on the farm in bulk packs delivered from our partner butchers).

At Hollycott we welcome visitors as we are passionate about sharing farm life with you. Coming to the farm is an excellent way to learn about food production and life on the land. As a female farmer, originally from the city, Jules likes to encourage others to think outside the stereotypes and loves to share her journey to becoming a farm owner and cattle breeder. She is personal proof that women on farms are “more than just a pretty face” and is passionate about being an example to other girls and women who may be contemplating a career in agriculture.
